Trip To Dublin

Last weekend I took my first trip to Dublin!!  We arrived by train (about a 3 hour trip) on Thursday night, grabbed some food and headed down to the Temple Bar.  This is the most famous strip of pubs in Ireland which is highlighted by Temple Bar.  Since drinks were 5-7 Euro here by the time we arrived we had one beer each and headed back to the hotel.  The bar was great and had live music playing.

The next day we visited Christ Church Cathedral (which was right across from our hotel).  We got an audio tour of the church and it was absolutely beautiful.  I'll post a few pictures below.

After Christ Church we headed to the Guinness Factory!!!!  This tour lasted about 2 hours and we learned all about how they make Guinness.  Turns out Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000 year lease on the property so we will all be able to have Guinness for a very, very long time!  This tour was great and culminated in a trip to the Gravity Bar and a free pint of Guinness at the top.  From up there you could see the entire city!

After the Guinness Factory we went to Trinity College and saw the Book of Kells.  This was a very famous book that was written a long time ago and is very well preserved.

On Friday night we went to an absolutely horrible play called "The Faith Healer" which was a collection of 4 monologues lasting 2 hours.  When the play ended at 11 we headed back to our hotel and headed out for a fun night on the town.

Saturday we woke up and headed to Kilmainham prison.  This was a great and very interesting visit and I learned a lot.  I'll put some pictures up of the prison if they will load (which is never a given with my terrible internet here).  After the prison we went to St. Patricks Cathedral which was another beautiful church.  We came back to Cork Saturday night.

Dublin was fun but I have to say that I do like Cork a lot better.  It is a lost smaller and is much easier to manage.  The last week was pretty good and right now I'm fighting off a cold so I can have fun during RAG week next week.  This is a big event on campus all week where they host a ton of events during the day and then rent out clubs and pubs at night.

P.S. My internet here is so bad that i cannot upload any pictures at the moment.  For any pictures head to facebook because I have about 350 uploaded on there!
